Will the logo stand out in its desired environment to provide fast, memorable identification? Look at how successful logos stand out in the clutter of a big city - they are instantly recognised and assimilated by your brain almost before they register through your eyes.
How well can the logo be used in a variety of applications? From letterheads, through to moving media, even down to postage stamp sized renderings or black and white fax designs it must be able to be viewed coherently on all material. A logo must not conform to size and must be easy to scale. It should be scalable to any level of height:width ratio. At the same time, its height or width should not distort its recognition in any way.
Is the logo easy to identify and describe? Overworked logo and branding designs will not be processed by the brain nearly as quick as a simpler design and henceforth will not create any retention with the viewer and will most probably not be a brand people can identify with. A logo must be easy to describe. Consumers should be able to retain and recall your logo easily and effortlessly.
A logo should be recognizable without color or with color. Color of the logo shouldn't be a hinderence where recognition is concerned. A logo should be created in black and white first and well designed logo should work in a number of different applications including fax and photocopier. Once we have that stage right comes the color additions to blend the whole branding package together. That's why we start the Prototypes hand sketching on paper and then move to Computer.
Once upon a time a good trademark logo would last twenty years plus, in this modern age however the rebranding time has dropped to a mere two-four years between new iconic or graphical logo (and around five years for textual based) branding programs, but your logo or branding design still needs to be careful not to follow current trends so closely as they, themselves, have a very limited life expectancy.

Initialy we start with little brain storming, studying the client's competitors and their design & marketing strategy. Then we draw sketches on paper and later when hand sketches take some form or sketches start making sense, we move down to computer for giving shape to our imagination.
Final files are delivered with all technical specifications required and asked.
Specifications: Font Style, Size & Version, Colors in CMYK, RGB, PANTONE, HEXADECIMAL values, printing description for varied papers like Gloss, Matt, Natural Paper.
Files: Vector, PNG, JPG, TIF, PSD & FLASH (in case of animated logos).
Versions: Colored & B/W versions for use in mediums like Newspaper, Fax or Yellow Pages.
